Disabled students or those suffering from a chronic medical condition* face increased challenges in their daily lives.

Student Orientation & Coaching (SoC) is the first point of contact for disability-specific questions and problems. We will help you to organise your studies and your study programme, with a focus on your needs and coordination with the units involved.

Because studying with a disability or chronic medical condition often involves long-term planning we recommend that you contact us as early as possible.

If you wish to apply for special examination arrangements please see the information sheet below. To obtain disability compensation a detailed application and a medical report must be submitted.

* Explanation of term: According to the definition given in the Federal Act on the Elimination of Discrimination against People with Disabilities a person with a disability is “eine Person, der es eine voraussichtlich dauernde körperliche, geistige oder psychische Beeinträchtigung erschwert oder verunmöglichst, alltägliche Verrichtungen vorzunehmen, soziale Kontakte zu pflegen, sich fortzubewegen, sich aus- und fortzubilden oder eine Erwerbstätigkeit auszuüben” [“a person whose prospectively lasting debilitating physical, mental or psychological condition makes it difficult or impossible for him/her to carry out everyday activities, cultivate social contact, locomote independently, pursue an education or practice a profession”] (Art. 2 Para.1).
